LISA MATTHEWS is a poet and UK Creative Writing researcher with a doctorate in sequential prose poetry. Lisa is a member of the artists’ collective twentysevenb studio based in Macclesfield and writes in text blocks. The three sequences published here are examples of her new form, the present text (which is one result of her PhD research). The research collection, The hauled-up notebooks, is due for publication in autumn 2024 and will be Lisa’s seventh collection.
Her pioneering new collection Darlings, Deletions introduces her new poetic form, the ‘present text’. Influenced by the artworks of Jill Tate, the life of US marine biologist Rachel Carson, and – most of all – tenderly heartfelt grief, Darlings, Deletions is a striking and inspiring collection from an important North West poet.
